Bray, about 220 kilometres from Vryburg, is a border town between South Africa and Botswana.
Though very small, dusty and dry, for travellers heading over the frontier into the Kgalakgadi Park, Bray offers an opportunity to stock up with essentials such as food, fuel and refreshments. There are also a couple of guesthouses in the town.
Each July, the town is the scene of the Bray July desert horse race, attracting about 3 000 visitors to watch professional race horses compete with farm-trained mounts in a 2 000-metre race over red desert sand. It is organised by the Bray Recreational Club.
