In 1992, the Kinnear family moved from Nelspruit in Mpumalanga and purchased the Farm Luncarty, with a vision to develop a reserve in the heart of the African bush with conservation as their main inspiration, where both humans and animals could co-exist. Two decades later, the 4 star Hannah Game Lodge has grown to become an extremely popular destination for tourists looking for an exclusive, peaceful safari adventure in this beautiful private game reserve that embraces more than 8 000 hectares of malaria free, unspoiled bushveld.

The elevated thatched chalets with private verandahs provide sweeping views of the pristine private reserve, and amenities are everything you can expect of a 4-star establishment. Standard chalets have fans and panel heaters, while the luxury suites have air conditioning, heating systems and TV channels. The main area has three comfortable lounges, with a fireplace in the main dining and lounge area and a refreshing pool in the garden.

Morning and afternoon game drives and game walks allow guests the chance to see leopard, buffalo and a variety of general game including tssessebe, oryx, mountain reedbuck, eland, sable and springbok, as well as some prolific birdlife. The Sable Breeding Project has flourished, and you are welcome to ask your guide to take you there during your game drive to view dozens of these noble endangered antelope at close quarters. Upon arriving ‘home’, drinks and dinners can be enjoyed in the open-air Rock Boma close to a crackling fire, or at the indoor Waterbuck Restaurant.

Conference facilities are comprehensive, and the reserve is home to one of South Africa’s largest teambuilding venues, providing a variety of thrilling adventure activities. The lodge is also the perfect venue for couples to tie the knot at a lakeside with a walkway over the water to the “altar”, or a bush wedding under the Maroela Tree. Social upliftment is an important part of Hannah Game Lodge’s ethos, with staff employed from the local community. They have also financed two school projects, constructing classrooms and supplying teaching materials.
