Hazyview is a lively and interesting town set on the banks of the ancient Sabie River in the heart of Mpumalanga’s Lowveld region.
Hazyview has long been a stopover and trading post for explorers, travellers and adventurers. It gets its name from the shimmering heat haze that hangs over it in summer.
Hazyview is surrounded by farms and plantations, with bananas being the main crop. Citrus fruit, litchis, mangos, macadamia nuts, coffee, spices and vegetables are also grown around Hazyview.
All roads around Hazyview lead to adventure – to the Kruger National park, to the Lowveld’s many private reserves, and along Mpumalanga’s Panorama Route.
The town has a typically friendly spirit – there are many hotels and guest houses, restaurants, cafes, bistros, and arts & crafts spots.
The beautiful setting and laid-back lifestyle of the Lowveld has long attracted artists and creative souls. In and around Hazyview and nearby White River, you can visit the studios and showrooms of some of the country’s foremost artists and crafters.
When it comes to the great outdoors, Hazyview has it all. The town is a stepping stone to assorted adventures like hiking, horse riding, hot air ballooning, river rafting andfloat-left 4x4-ing.

The Artists Route - A large range of artistic endeavours takes place in the area. You’ll find weavers and pottersweavers, sculptors and candle makers, glass-blowers and taxidermists. In both Hazyview and White River there are also galleries, bistros, eateries and good places for retail therapy. In Hazyview head for Perry’s Bridge and the Rendevouz Tourism Centre. In White River check out Casterbridge Centre.
The Panorama Route - Take a slow and scenic drive along Mpumalanga’s most dramatic route. Visit the towns of Sabie, Pilgrim’s Rest, Graskop and Lydenberg, and make sure to visit the Blyde (Motlatse) River Canyon.
