The reserve caters for hikers with different levels of fitness and experience. Even within one group, individuals with diverse expectations have the opportunity to hike different distances and trails of various grades of difficulty. Wine Valley Horse Trails

Wine Valley Horse Trails

There is no one more qualified to lead you on one of the many horseback trails available in the winelands than Michelle Mazurkiewicz. She’s an expert equestrian who has been doing what she loves for about 30 years. Michelle and her partner Gavin Mey have their stables at the lovely Rhebokskloof Wine Estate just outside Paarl. Their horses are part of the family. The trails are catered to the experience of the group and take you to places with magnificent views of Paarl Nature Reserve and the spectacular Du Toit’s Kloof mountain range. The cherry on the cake is that en route you enjoy the very best food and wine that Rhebokskloof and neighbouring wineries have to offer. If saddling up is not your thing, you can always take a carriage ride round the vineyards. Now that's the life...

Market on the Wharf
14 Oct 2014

Market on the Wharf

Food, glorious food! I see ice-cream milkshakes, Nutella crepes, fresh produce, sushi, biltong, hot dogs and gourmet wraps. It’s a little bit of paradise. Outside the Market on the Wharf, it’s a beautiful sunny day and the V&A Waterfront is packed with tourists and locals. But many people would prefer to be indoors, drawn by their senses and the rumble in the bellies. There’s live jazz music playing and the atmosphere is buzzing with community and I have decided that this is going to be my go-to place when showing friends around Cape Town. I love the variety of options available at this recently developed foodie market and the fact that they don’t burn a hole in my wallet!

Witsand MTB Trail

Witsand MTB Trail

Few eco-destinations in the Northern Cape are as scenic as the Witsand Nature Reserve. The reserve's name is derived from the colour of the sand, which contrasts against the surrounding red Kalahari sands. It teems with birdlife, but gemsbok, red hartebeest, springbok, duiker and steenbok are also abundant on the reserve. It is only here that you can ride among the sensual, flowing white dunes – 20 to 60 metres high - surrounded by copper-red Kalahari sand, Acacia woodland and the Langberg Mountain range. Keep your ears tuned to the roaring sands as you explore to your heart's content; the reserve and the surrounding roads are your playground...
