Over the past year, South Africans have once again answered the call for Adventure with spectacular efforts. There is likely not a shark or sparrow left that doesn’t know about load shedding at the moment, as the fearless Adventurers conquered mountains and oceans. We invite you to choose your favourite expedition by selecting from the menu below. Cape to Atacama

A peak-bagging expedition to the Bolivian and Peruvian Andes with an environmental spin which included sailing the Atlantic Ocean and then trekking, hitch-hiking and catching rusty buses to the start of the climbs.

Swimming’s Big 6

Completing the six inter-continental swims and in the process raising in excess of US$300 000 for 11 children’s and orphanage charities in South Africa and Russia. The swims were:

The mountains of the Sahara

A six-week long expedition into the Sahara to climb the highest peaks in Chad (Emi Koussi) and Libya (Bikku Bitti); part of a lifelong ambition to summit the highest peak in each of the 54 African countries.

A self-sufficient trek from the most northerly to the most southerly point of Iceland. 

Riaan Manser & Vasti Geldenhuys

Take Me 2 New York

A world first rowing expedition from Morocco to New York which saw Riaan Manser and Vasti Geldenhuys become the first people to row from mainland Africa to mainland North America. Vasti is the first woman from Africa to have rowed across any ocean.

The Unlimited Twin Peaks Antarctica

Unlimited Twin Peaks Expedition – a first ascent of a 1860m high Antarctic peak, preceded by an ascent of Mount Vinson, the highest peak in Antarctica.

Record breaking Indian Ocean row

A 6720km unassisted row across the Indian Ocean from Geraldton, Australia to Mahé, Seychelles. The seven-person crew rowed in shifts of two hours on/two hours off, day and night, for the entire duration of the two-month expedition, completing the crossing in a Guinness World Record-breaking time of 57 days. It was also longest distance rowed in the Indian Ocean by any team.
